Braille Sense Beta Tester Responsibilities and Non-Disclosure Agreement

Being a GW Micro beta tester doesn't just mean having the latest hardware or software. There are responsibilities that need to be understood:

  1. Keep up to date with the latest beta software
  2. Contribute to discussions on the Braille Sense email list
  3. When problems occur, provide complete and detailed instructions on how to duplicate the problem, all relevant machine specifications (including hardware details, and software versions), and any other relevant information regarding the duplication process via the Braille Sense email list
  4. Procure beta software through approved GW Micro channels (beta software will not be e-mailed or provided on disk)
  5. Keep GW Micro informed of any change of personal contact information
  6. Understand that beta testing GW Micro hardware and software is confidential, and will not be discussed with anyone except for the GW Micro staff, and/or other private beta testers.

Beta testing is not a right -- it is a privilege. Beta testing is an opportunity to test hardware and software before GW Micro releases them to the public. This is also your chance to influence development, and provide appropriate information on issues that might assist in making our products more robust. Beta testing, however, is strictly for individuals who can tolerate the unfinished nature of a pre-release product.

The goal of beta testing GW Micro products is to provide valuable feedback, and to work with GW Micro to help solve problems that may be occurring. It is not a beta testers right to demand problems be solved, or to ridicule the staff or other beta testers when issues are not immediately addressed.

Being a beta tester does not indicate or guarantee that you will receive any price breaks on final or publicly released hardware or software. Upgrade charges will be determined at GW Micro's discretion. Special consideration, however, may be granted to those beta testers who offer appropriately detailed and useful feedback during the beta process. Again, this is determined at GW Micro's discretion.

Although you may be granted access to beta information during one particular beta testing session, this does not mean that you are guaranteed access to any other beta testing session. GW Micro will determine a beta tester's standing during and between each beta testing session. GW Micro reserves the right to allow or deny access at any time for any reason.

Any mention of private beta details and/or features in development without explicit written consent from a GW Micro staff member, or any violation of GW Micro's specified beta testing regulations, will result in immediate and permanent expulsion from the GW Micro beta testing team. Discussion of beta details will only take place on the Braille Sense email list, or via private communication with a GW Micro staff member.

Beta testing is strictly confidential. You must have read and agreed with this Non Disclosure Agreement (by selecting the appropriate check box below) in order to maintain a beta tester standing with GW Micro.

If you have a conflict of interest or do not agree with any of the above stipulations, we will not be able to include you in our testing. GW Micro also reserves the right to cancel any beta testers account at any time without prior notice.

GW Micro is responsible for prioritizing tasks based on internal resources and external needs. While it may be difficult to agree with our priorities, with so many people's input and so many demands, unfavorable priorities may have to be made.

BY READING AND AGREEING TO THIS DOCUMENT, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT ALL APPLICABLE HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE PRODUCTS ARE BETA VERSION STILL UNDERGOING TESTING AND DO NOT REPRESENT FINAL PRODUCT FROM GW MICRO. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE MAY CONTAIN BUGS, ERRORS AND OTHER PROBLEMS THAT COULD CAUSE SYSTEM FAILURES. CONSEQUENTLY, THE HARDWARE, SOFTWARE, AND DOCUMENTATION ARE PROVIDED TO YOU "AS IS" AND GW MICRO DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL LIABILITY TO YOU OF ANY KIND AND ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTY WITH RESPECT TO THE HARDWARE, SOFTWARE, AND RELATED DOCUMENTATION. YOU BEAR THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE HARDWARE, SOFTWARE, AND DOCUMENTATION.
